Representatives of the Europa Institute at the University of Zurich visited the Constitutional Court of Ukraine
On September 18, 2017, the delegation of the largest university of Switzerland - the Europa Institute at the University of Zurich visited the Constitutional Court of Ukraine, the purpose of which was to familiarise with the activity of the body of constitutional jurisdiction in Ukraine.
During the visit, the representatives of the Europa Institute at the University of Zurich met with the Acting Chairman of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine Viktor Kryvenko. The staff of the Secretariat of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine also attended the event.
Acting Chairman of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine Viktor Kryvenko informed the guests about the activities of the Court and its powers, the constitutional reform in Ukraine and the current activities of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine. He also touched upon the new powers of the Constitutional Court, namely the introduction of an additional mechanism for the protection of human and civil rights and freedoms, i.e. the institution of constitutional complaint.
The interlocutors discussed a number of topical issues in the sphere of constitutional legal proceedings, exchanged constructive thoughts on research and practical cooperation between the Constitutional Court of Ukraine and the Europa Institute.
A tour around the premises of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine was also organised for the visitors, which included the Court’s library, archives, and the museum.
The guests also visited the courtroom, where they got acquainted with the history of the establishment and formation of the Constitutional Court, learned about the specific features of the constitutional proceedings and types of application to the Constitutional Court of Ukraine.
