As part of the European Commission's international technical assistance project TAIEX, on 13 June 2025, employees of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine took part in an online seminar “Modern Library Development Strategy: European Recommendations”, organised in cooperation with the National Library of France.
The purpose of the event was to get acquainted with the modern European experience in the field of librarianship, in particular, the formation and processing of library collections, the development of digital technologies, the use of modern hardware and software, as well as the security of library resources in cyberspace.
The training event was attended by employees of the structural units of the Court's Registry, whose activities include work in this area. In her opening remarks, Larysa Biriuk, First Deputy Head of the Secretariat and Head of the Department of Organisational Work, stressed the importance of introducing modern approaches to the development of librarianship and enhancing digitalisation to improve the efficiency of the Court's activities.
Representatives of the National Library of France shared their experience with their colleagues. Deputy Head of the Digitalisation Service Ines Carme, Digital Preservation Expert Yannick Grandcolas and Head of the Bibliographic Service Melanie Roche spoke about modern approaches to providing digital services, advantages and challenges of storing digital book collections, peculiarities of digitising rare editions and folios, international copyright protection standards and their observance during the digitisation of the book collection and further use of digital resources. The participants were also presented with the European experience of libraries' participation in international projects, the creation of joint search databases, and the use of global digital catalogues.
The knowledge gained will contribute to the further modernisation of the library service of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine in line with European standards.
