OLEKSANDR VODIANNIKOV

Judge of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine

 

Born on 15 January 1978 in Kremenchuk, Poltava Region.

In 2000, he graduated from the Institute of International Relations of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv with a degree in International Law.

In 2002, he received a Master of Laws (LLM) degree in comparative constitutional law from the Central European University in Budapest, Hungary.

In 2016, he defended his thesis for the degree of Candidate of Legal Sciences in the speciality of “International Law” on the topic “The Principle of Tax Non-Discrimination in WTO and EU Law: A Comparative Analysis.”

Since 1999 – assistant legal advisor, since January 2000 – corporate lawyer at the contract office of JSC “Tekhtransmash”.

Since December 2000 – chief specialist at the Centre for Comparative Law at the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine. Since 2003 – head of the European and Comparative Law Department at the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine.

2004–2006, he worked as a legal consultant to the World Bank Project Management Group “Expanding Access to Financial Services Markets”.

Since 2004, he has been a legal advisor on the rule of law to the OSCE Project Co-ordinator in Ukraine.

Since 2007 – National Programme Officer for Rule of Law and Human Rights at the OSCE Project Co-ordinator in Ukraine.

Since 2014 – National Legal Adviser at the OSCE Project Co-ordinator in Ukraine.

Since 2022 – Senior Project Associate, OSCE Support Programme for Ukraine (specialising in rule of law and human rights).

He has received awards for his conscientious and effective work from the OSCE Project Co-ordinator in Ukraine. In June 2022, he was awarded the OSCE Gender Champions Award 2022 by the OSCE Secretary General for his outstanding contribution to the promotion of gender equality.

On 27 June 2025, he was appointed to the office of the Judge of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine by Decree of the President of Ukraine and took the oath of office on 3 July 2025.

Candidate of legal sciences.

Author of over 50 scientific works published in Ukrainian and English in Ukraine and abroad.
