25 May. Sessions of the Grand Chamber and the Board of Judges Held

Today, on 25 May 2023, the Grand Chamber of the Court proceeded with the consideration of the following cases:

  • upon the constitutional petition of the Supreme Court of Ukraine regarding the constitutionality of the Law of Ukraine „On the Deposit Guarantee System“;
  • upon the constitutional complaint of Ihor Samsin regarding the constitutionality of the provision of the second paragraph of Article 54.1 of the Law of Ukraine „On the Judiciary and the Status of Judges“;
  • - upon the constitutional petition of 47 People’s Deputies of Ukraine regarding the constitutionality of certain provisions of the Laws of Ukraine „On Prevention of Corruption“, „On the Prosecution Office“, „On the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine“, „On the State Bureau of Investigation“, „On the National Agency of Ukraine for Finding, Tracing, and Management of Assets Derived from Corruption and Other Crimes“, and the Civil Procedure Code of Ukraine.

The consideration of these cases will be held at one of the forthcoming plenary sessions.

The Court adopted a Ruling on merging into one constitutional proceeding the cases upon constitutional complaints of Olha Doroshko, Ivan Kushaba, and Mykyta Yevstifeev regarding the constitutionality of paragraphs 1, 5 of Article 19.6, paragraph 2 of Article 389.3 of the Civil Procedure Code of Ukraine. The Second Senate will deliberate the case.

A session of the Second Board of Judges of the First Senate was also held, at which the judges adopted a Ruling (final) on the refusal to initiate constitutional proceedings in the case upon the constitutional complaint of Hanna Pleskach regarding the constitutionality of Article 90 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.
