The collection of reports of the International Сonference dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine was published

 

The collection of reports of the International Conference “Constitutional Control and the Processes of Democratic Transformation in Modern Society”, which was held in Kyiv on October 7-8, 2016 was published by Kyiv publishing house “VAITE”. The collection was published in the frames of implementation of the OSCE Project Co-ordinator in Ukraine “Supporting the reform of constitutional justice”.

The representative forum “Constitutional Control and the Processes of Democratic Transformation in Modern Society”, organised by the Constitutional Court of Ukraine in co-operation with the European Commission for Democracy through Law (Venice Commission), German Foundation for International Legal Co-operation (IRZ) and the OSCE Project Co-ordinator in Ukraine became an outstanding event in the life of the Ukrainian state.

Its importance was emphasised by the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko, who took part in the event. The first pages of the collection contain his welcome speech on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine. According to the President of Ukraine, “the 20th anniversary of the Constitution and the Constitutional Court of Ukraine coincided with the start of a profound reform of the judicial branch of power”.

In his opening speech, the Chairman of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine Yurii Baulin, who had made a lot of efforts for the successful organisation of such a large-scale scientific event, expressed his gratitude to the delegates from many European countries who showed their high respect to Ukraine, judges of the Constitutional Court and constitutional law scholars.

The collection also contains welcome addresses of the National Legal Advisor of the OSCE Project Co-ordinator in Ukraine Oleksandr Vodyannikov, the Director of German Foundation for International Legal Co-operation (IRZ) Veronika Keller-Engels, the President of the European Commission for Democracy through Law (Venice Commission) Gianni Buquicchio.

The publication includes contributions of representatives of bodies of constitutional jurisdictions of foreign countries, experts in the field of constitutional law, judges of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine, in particular, reports of the President of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Azerbaijan Farhad Abdullayev, judge of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Garajayev, judge of the Constitutional Chamber of the Supreme Court Kyrgyz Republic Cholpon Osmonova, Deputy Chairman of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Belarus Olga Sergeeva.

The collection also contains reports of the Head of the Department of Theory and History of State and Law of I. Malynovskyi Institute of Law of the National University of “Ostroh Academy” Serhii Ischuk, Head of the Department of Constitutional and International Law of the National Academy of Internal Affairs Bohdan Kalynovskyi, Head of the Department of Constitutional Law of the Judicial and Administrative Faculty of the National UniversityOdesa Law Academy” Anzhelika Krusian, Head of the Department of Justice of the Law Faculty of Yurii Fedkovych Chernivtsi National University Oksana Scherbaniuk.

The Conference papers are printed in the Ukrainian and English languages.
