The Constitutional Court of Ukraine held a follow-up event after the visit to the Constitutional Court of the Czech Republic

On February 10, 2026, the Constitutional Court of Ukraine held a follow-up event on the topic “The Constitutional Court of the Czech Republic: Organization, Experience and Approaches”, which was held after the visit of the delegation of the Secretariat of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine to the Constitutional Court of the Czech Republic. The event was attended by judges of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine Oleksandr Vodiannikov, Viktor Kychun, Vasyl Lemak, Oleg Pervomayskiy, Petro Filiuk, representatives of the services of judges of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine and the Secretariat of the Court.

During the event, the participants discussed key observations and practical conclusions obtained during the working visit, focusing on the institutional model, powers and competence of the Constitutional Court of the Czech Republic.

Special attention was paid to the mechanism of constitutional complaint, in particular, to the issues of admissibility and initiation of proceedings, the features of its implementation, as well as to the internal procedures for processing case materials and preparing draft acts of the Court.

The participants also shared information on the organization of the work of the analytical unit of the Constitutional Court of the Czech Republic and its role in ensuring proper legal and informational and analytical support for the activities of the Court. Additionally, the practice of applying the European Convention on Human Rights and the acquis of the European Union was discussed, in particular in the context of argumentation and substantiation of legal positions in the decisions of the Constitutional Court of the Czech Republic.

Special attention was paid to the communication strategy of the Constitutional Court of the Czech Republic, in particular, approaches to openness and transparency of the Court's activities, interaction with the media and informing the public about the decisions delivered. The participants discussed the organization of communication support for key events and processes, the practice of promptly covering the decisions and positions of the Court, as well as tools for maintaining a systematic dialogue with the public.

During the summing up, it was emphasized that the received developments and ideas could be useful for further improving the internal procedures of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine and strengthening its institutional capacity, as well as for developing professional dialogue and practical cooperation between the bodies of constitutional review of Ukraine and the Czech Republic.
