The Constitutional Law Training Center was opened in the Constitutional Court of Ukraine

Today, June 19, within the framework of the "Constitutional Week", the Constitutional Law Training Center was opened in the Constitutional Court of Ukraine.

This was made possible by a long-term partnership between the Constitutional Court of Ukraine and the OSCE Project Co-ordinator in Ukraine, as well as financial support from the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany.

The Training Center became one of the components of implementation of the three-year project: "Support for the protection of human rights by improving access to constitutional justice". It should be noted that in the framework of its implementation a number of events relevant to the Constitutional Court have already been held.

As part of this project, the Training Center received materials of two trainings "Constitutional Complaint and Non-Discrimination Problems" and practical aspects of the constitutional complaint institute, as well as from the seminar "Problems of of Constitutional Complaint: Experience of Three Years of Implementation" developed by experts of the OSCE Project Co-ordinator in Ukraine.

As the Chairman of the Constitutional Court Oleksandr Tupytskyi noted: “The work of this center will allow organising and conducting various events using motorised and multimedia equipment. It is important for us to be able to conduct training on any issues, including the functioning of the institute of constitutional complaint. In addition, thanks to the work of this center, we have the opportunity to organise expert discussions on topical issues with the participation of judges, lawyers, scholars and human rights activists in video conferencing format. In addition, it will allow us to involve experts in discussions both at the national and international levels without spending money from the state budget".

The Constitutional Law Training Center was inaugurated by the Chairman of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine Oleksandr Tupytskyi and the OSCE Project Co-ordinator in Ukraine, Ambassador Henrik Villadsen. The official opening ceremony was also attended by representatives of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine: Head of the Secretariat Viktor Beschastnyi, heads of structural units of the Secretariat, as well as by representatives of the Office of the OSCE Project Co-ordinator in Ukraine: National Legal Adviser to the OSCE Project Co-ordinator in Ukraine Oleksandr Vodyannikov, Program Manager for Legal Reforms of the OSCE Project Co-ordinator in Ukraine Vitalii Hatseliuk, and staff of the Legal Reform Programs Department of the OSCE Project Co-ordinator in Ukraine.
