The General Assembly of the Association of Constitutional Justice of the Countries of the Baltic and Black Sea Regions

 

On June 2, 2017 the General Assembly of the Association of Constitutional Justice of the Countries of the Baltic and Black Sea Regions was held in Kharkiv.

Pursuant to the Statute of the Association, the General Assembly is the body of the Association through which it carries out its activities.

Representatives of courts-members of the Association took part in the event, namely: President of the Association Yurii Baulin, judges of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine Viktor Kolisnyk, Viktor Kryvenko and Natalia Shaptala, Head of the Secretariat of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine, Secretary General of the Association Yaroslav Vasylkevych, President of the Constitutional Court of Georgia, President of the Conference of European Constitutional Courts (CECC) Zaza Tavadze, Vice-President of the Constitutional Court of Georgia Teimuraz Tughushi, judge of the Constitutional Court of Georgia Tamaz Tsabutashvili, Secretary General of the Constitutional Court of Georgia Irina Khakhutaishvili, President of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Lithuania, President of the World Conference of Constitutional Justice (WCCJ) Dainius Žalimas, Judges of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Lithuania Vytautas Greičius and Vytas Milius, Secretary General of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Lithuania Ingrida Daneliene, President of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Moldova (2011-2017) Alexandru Tănase, judge of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Moldova Aurel Băieşu and Chief Assistant-Judge of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Moldova Rodica Secrieru.

Acting Chairman of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine, President of the Association of Constitutional Justice of the Countries of the Baltic and Black Sea Regions Yurii Baulin opened the General Assembly of the Association, congratulated those present on the successful completion of the Second Congress of the Association and thanked for active participation in this event.

The first item on the agenda was the report of the Secretary General of the Association, Chief Assistant-Judge of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Moldova Rodica Secrieru for 2016.

The participants also discussed the topical issues for the inclusion to the agenda of the XVII Congress of the Conference of European Constitutional Courts (Batumi, Georgia, June 2017) and to the 4th Congress of the World Conference on Constitutional Justice (Vilnius, Lithuania, September 2017).

An important issue on the agenda was the creation of the Association's official printed publication – “The Journal” aimed at comprehensive coverage of the activities of the Association, topical issues of constitutional justice and constitutional law, and ensuring the goals approved by the Statute of the Association.

During the General Assembly proposals on changes to the Statute of the Association, the next Association Presidency and the next Congress were discussed.

In conclusion, Acting Chairman of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine, President of the Association of Constitutional Justice of the Countries of the Baltic and Black Sea Regions Yurii Baulin thanked everyone for their cooperation and support, as well as active participation in the discussion during the Second Congress of the Association.
