Judge of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine Stanislav Shevchuk attended the presentation of the new project of the OSCE Project Co-ordinator in Ukraine
On March 12, 2015 judge of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine, Chairman of the Standing Commission of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine on International Relations Stanislav Shevchuk participated in the presentation of a new three-year project of the OSCE Project Co-ordinator in Ukraine "Support to national dialogue for reforms, justice and development" which was attended by the heads and representatives of diplomatic missions in Ukraine.
Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration of Ukraine, Secretary of the National Council of Reforms Dmytro Shymkiv and a representative of the Office of the Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights Yurii Bielousov also took part in the meeting from the Ukrainian side.
As the OSCE Project Co-ordinator in Ukraine Ambassador Vaidotas Verba informed, the project had been developed at the request of the Presidential Administration of Ukraine with account of the consultations held at the Constitutional Court of Ukraine and Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights. It aims to support the reform process in Ukraine in the areas strategically defined by the President of Ukraine in the Strategy for Sustainable Development "Ukraine-2020".
The task of the project, to be financed from the OSCE extra-budgetary funds, is to promote effective dialogue between the government and various parts of Ukrainian society concerning the reform agenda; promotion of social dialogue, means of early response to violation of human rights and conflict prevention system in Ukraine; improving transparency of the constitutional justice in Ukraine.
As regards the constitutional justice, the project involves the study of international experience of the constitutional justice; national conference on access to justice and constitutional forums on the constitutional justice and human rights; development of an open database of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine accessible through the Internet; support for dialogue between the Constitutional Court of Ukraine and the media; organization of summer schools on constitutionalism and human rights.
According to organizers, the project was built on the previous experience of cooperation between the OSCE Project Co-ordinator inUkraine with all Ukrainian stakeholders, based on the dialogue with the Ukrainian society and supports long-term sustainable development of the constitutional democracy in Ukraine.
During the meeting the parties discussed a number of specific components of the project, in particular support of the national control system for reforms, early warning system for human rights violations, Ukrainian dialogue mediators and facilitators, openness and accountability of the reform process, comprehensive national debate, openness and accessibility of the constitutional justice, international cooperation for establishing the national dialogue.
