The key elements of  interpretations of human rights by the ECHR and the EU Court of Justice were discussed at the Constitutional Court

Today, on 21 February 2024, the representatives of the Secretariat and patronage services of the judges of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine took part in a workshop on the key elements of interpretations of human rights by the European Court of Human Rights and the Court of Justice of the European Union.

The respective workshop was the first event within the framework of the project “Support to the Development of Constitutional Justice in Ukraine”, which is being implemented within the third phase of the joint programme of the European Union and the Council of Europe “Partnership for Good Governance!”. The goal of the Project is to develop constitutional justice in Ukraine, and in accordance with the Work Plan, a number of different knowledge and experience exchange activities are planned to be implemented over the next two years.

During the workshop, national experts of the Project Tetiana Fulei and Tetiana Komarova presented their reports on the basics of human rights interpretation by the European Court of Human Rights and the Court of Justice of the European Union. They also discussed the application of the case-law of these judicial institutions in the work of the Court's Secretariat.

The purpose of the workshop was to deepen the knowledge on the key elements of the interpretation of the European Convention of 1950 in the case law of the ECtHR, as well as on the activities of the EU Court of Justice.
