The representative of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine attended the presentation of the Council of Europe Action Plan for Ukraine 2015-2017

 

 

On March 18, 2015 in the premises of the Diplomatic Academy of Ukraine a presentation of the Council of Europe Action Plan for Ukraine 2015-2017, organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine and the Council of Europe Office in Ukraine was held. Upon the assignment of the Chairman of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine Yurii Baulin, the event was attended by Head of the Department of External Relations of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine Olga Kravchenko.

The participants were representatives of Parliament, ministries and governmental departments, judiciary, civil society, ambassadors of the European states in Ukraine.

The Action Plan was presented by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Pavlo Klimkin and Secretary General of the Council of Europe Thorbjørn Jagland.

Pavlo Klimkin noted that despite the external military aggression against our country, Ukraine remains committed to implementing comprehensive reforms in anticorruption, fiscal, judicial, and defensive sectors. The Minister emphasized that such determination complies with the obligations of the Ukrainian government before citizens and international partners.

 

Note. The Council of Europe Action Plan for Ukraine 2015-2017 elaborated by the Council of Europe and the Ukrainian authorities, was adopted by the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe on January 21, 2015.

The document was developed with account of priority reform areas and state of implementation of commitments and obligations of our State, in view of its membership in the Council of Europe. It includes the constitutional reform; judicial reform; reform of criminal justice and law enforcement; strengthening of democratic governance and local self-government reform, including decentralization; combating economic crimes and corruption; protection of human rights.

The budget of the Council of Europe Action Plan for Ukraine 2015-2017 will amount to 45 mln. euros.
