Maria Markush

 

Maria Markush was born in 1955 in Bedevlia, Tiachivskyi district, Zakarpatskyi region.

She started to work in 1972 as a worker, typist, engineer on economic accounting.

In 1983 she graduated from Kharkiv Dzerzhynskyi Law Institute.

1983 - 1994 - legal intern, lawyer, Head of Tiachivskyi district legal consultation in Zakarpatskyi region.

In 1994-2002 she worked as a lawyer, the Chairman of the Board of territorial department of Zakarpatskyi regional Bar Association.

2002 - 2006 – People’s Deputy of Ukraine of the Verkhovna Rada of the IV convocation, Deputy Head of the Committee of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on legislative provision of law enforcement activity.

In August 2006 she was appointed Judge of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine. She swore the oath on August 4, 2006.

Decorated with the Diploma of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.

Candidate of Legal Sciences. Distinguished Lawyer of Ukraine.

Author of the monograph “The Principle of Generality in the Criminal Procedure of Ukraine” and a number of scientific articles on criminal, constitutional, electoral law and criminal procedure. Participated in the preparation of 158 legislative proposals, in particular draft Code on Criminal Procedure of Ukraine.

According to the Resolution of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine № 775-VII dated February 24, 2014 Mrs. Markush’ authorities were early terminated and she was dismissed from office of the Judge of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine.
