Mykhailo Hultai

Former Judge of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine

 

Mykhailo Hultai was born on April 10, 1958 in Hlushkiv, Horodenkivskyi district, Ivano-Frankivsk region.

He finished Ivan Franko medical college in Kolomyia in 1976 and started to work as a disinfector at Luhivsk village ambulance, a medical assistant of special medical service at automobile operating company. He served compulsory military service.

In 1985 he graduated with distinction from Kharkiv Law Institute named after F.E.Dzerzhynskyi.

1984 - 1987 - intern, senior investigation officer at Kharkiv prosecutor's office.

1987 - 1990 - prosecutor at Investigation Directorate at Kharkiv regional prosecutor's office.

1990 - 1992 - Deputy Prosecutor at Frunzenskyi district in Kharkiv.

1992 - 2010 - judge at Kharkiv regional court, from 2001 - judge at Kharkiv regional court of appeal.

In September 2010 he was appointed Judge of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine by the X Congress of Judges of Ukraine. He took the oath of a judge of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine on September 21, 2010.

Doctor of Legal Sciences.

Author of two monographs as well as a textbook and reference-book (in co-authorship) and numerous research works on identification and correction of investigation and judicial errors, formation of juvenile justice in Ukraine, problematic issues of combating corruption and judicial consideration of cases on crimes committed by organised criminal groups, problematic issues of constitutional justice, including introduction of constitutional complaint in Ukraine.
