Mykhailo Kolos

 

Mykhailo Kolos was born in 1953 in Bilopil, Shepetivskyi district, Khmelnytskyi region.

In 1970 he finished vocational technical school and worked as a locksmith and electric welder. He served a regular term in the army.

In 1981 he graduated from the Law Faculty of Kyiv Taras Shevchenko State University (Diploma cum Laude).

He began his professional career as an assistant, senior assistant to the prosecutor in Shepetivka, Khmelnytskyi region, prosecutor of the Department of the general supervision at the prosecutor’s office in Khmelnytskyi region, prosecutor for the supervision of law compliance in the correctional labour institutions in Khmelnytskyi region.

1988 – 1996 – member of Khmelnytskyi Regional Bar Association. From November 1993 he ran private law practice in Shepetivka, Khmelnytskyi region.

From 1996 he conducted scientific and pedagogical activity and was the Chairman of the Department of special legal disciplines, assistant professor at the Law Faculty of “Ostroh Academy” National University.

In 1993 – 2003 he was elected member of the Bar qualifications and disciplinary commission in Khmelnytskyi region, and from 2000 he was at the same time a member of Higher Bar Qualifications Commission at the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine.

In August 2006 he was appointed Judge of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine. He swore the oath on August 4, 2006.

Candidate of Legal Sciences, Associate Professor. Distinguished Lawyer of Ukraine.

Author of a number of works on criminal law and criminal procedure, theory of state and law.

According to the Resolution of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine № 775-VII dated February 24, 2014 Mr. Kolos’ authorities were early terminated and he was dismissed from office of the Judge of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine.
