Aleš Zalar

Retired judge of District Court in Ljubljana, former Slovenian Minister of Justice. For 19 years served as a judge of the Basic and District Court in Ljubljana, also serving as the President of these courts. Has more than 30 years of experience in the administration of justice, including corruption cases together with more than 10 years of experience as an independent expert consultant supporting legal, judicial and anti-corruption reforms in Ukraine. From 2008 until 2012, he was a Minister of Justice and acting Minister of Home Affairs of the Republic of Slovenia (2011-2012). Former Rapporteur of the Venice Commission on the Law on Judiciary and status of Judges of Ukraine, current Rapporteur of the Expert group of the Constitutional Commission of the Slovenian Parliament. Currently, he is the President of the European Centre for Dispute Resolution and an independent consultant specializing in the rule of law, constitutional law, mediation, arbitration, judicial ethics, and more. In 2023 recommended by the Delegation of the European Union in Ukraine for AGE membership, appointed by Cabinet of Minister of Ukraine.
