Plenary Sessions and Sessions of the Grand Chamber of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine Were Held

Today, June 15, the Grand Chamber of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine at in-camera parts of plenary sessions proceeded with consideration of cases upon the constitutional petition of the Commissioner of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine for Human Rights regarding the constitutionality of Articles 90, subparagraph 1 of paragraph 2 of Section XI "Final and Transitional Provisions" of the Law of Ukraine "On Civil Service" of December 10, 2015 No. 889-VIII, Article 21.7 of the Law of Ukraine "On Service in Local Self-Government" and the constitutional petition of 59 People’s Deputies of Ukraine concerning the constitutionality of the Law of Ukraine "On State Financial Guarantees of Medical Care". Consideration of these cases will be continued at the next plenary sessions of the Grand Chamber.

A number of sessions of the Grand Chamber of the Court were held on the same day. In particular, based on the results of consideration of the issue of involvement of participants in the constitutional proceedings in the case upon constitutional complaints of Aliona Zabara, Gahik Martyrosian on the constitutionality of the provisions of paragraph one of Article 14², the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Offenses and Nadiia Kopylova on the constitutionality of paragraph one of Article 14², paragraph five of Article 279¹ of the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Offenses, the ruling of the Grand Chamber on the involvement of participants in the constitutional proceedings in the case was adopted.

In addition, at its session the Grand Chamber proceeded with consideration of the issue of initiating constitutional proceedings in the case upon the constitutional petition of 46 People’s Deputies of Ukraine on the constitutionality of the Resolution of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine "On the Appointment of S.M. Shkarlet Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine". Consideration of the issue will be continued at one of the next sessions.

The Grand Chamber adopted 6 rulings on the extension of the term of adoption of rulings on initiating or refusing to initiate constitutional proceedings in cases upon constitutional petitions, constitutional appeals and constitutional complaints by the Boards of Judges of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine.
